Contemporary House, Churchtown
Status: Planning Consent
The brief for this project was to replace an existing detached house in the countryside with a larger house of modern, innovative design as permitted in exception by local planning legislation which requires that such a proposal would not have adverse visual impact than the building it replaces which was a two storey cottage with multiple extensions.
The solution was to move the building away from the mature trees that were causing damage to the existing building and to locate the replacement building in an adjacent field that had been a garden for the existing building.
The proposed building is modern but takes the form of a simple agricultural building with a barrelled zinc roof and a simple elevation with a two glazed central bays flanked by two timber clad side nays and fully clad and/or glazed ends.
